Gibran Invites To Build Digital Downstream, CISA: Make A National Movement
JAKARTA The Executive Director of the Center for Indonesia Strategic Actions (CISA), Herry Mendrofa, appreciated the steps taken by the Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia, Gibran Rakabuming Raka, who called for the importance of digital downstreaming in Indonesia.
The message was conveyed by Gibran through a video entitled 'No Longer Just a Digital Market, Indonesia Must Be a Digital Producer' which was uploaded on its official YouTube channel, @GibranTV, Tuesday 27 May.
Herry called the initiative a strategic step that must be converted into a national movement immediately. According to him, digital downstreaming will open up great opportunities if it is accompanied by increased literacy and cross-sectoral collaboration.
"I hope this can be pushed further into a national movement that targets literacy and collaboration. These two keys are able to convert ideas into concrete actions," he said, Wednesday, May 28.
He explained that digital literacy is important to bridge the gap in public access and capabilities to technology. Meanwhile, collaboration is needed to gather strength from various sectors, including the private sector, government, academics, to the digital community.
Herry emphasized that digital transformation, including artificial intelligence (AI), is an unavoidable global necessity. However, Indonesia has great potential to become a major player in this sector, given the high population of digital natives in the country.
"Digitalization, especially artificial intelligence, is a necessity. It's just a matter of how to make Mas Gibran's idea a national movement involving all local and national actors who have already engaged in the digital industry," he explained.
He hopes that the digital downstream vision conveyed by Gibran is in line with President Prabowo Subianto's directives that can be followed up in the form of real, inclusive policies. Especially, according to him, in supporting MSME growth through equitable digital infrastructure and side policies.

"What Mas Gibran said is very clear and understandable. Now it's just a matter of how to map the potential of MSMEs, the readiness of digital infrastructure, and the extent to which national and regional regulations open space for the development of digital businesses," he concluded.
The video of Gibran's invitation to open a digital downstream content series emphasizes the importance of Indonesia not only becoming a consumer of the digital market, but also a producer and innovator in it.
