Ukrainian Military Attacks Drone Weapons Factory To Russian Missiles

JAKARTA - The Ukrainian military attacked several sites of Russian weapons production during a massive drone strike at night which Moscow claimed was blocked by its air defenses.

Both sides have carried out airstrikes against targets far behind the front lines where fighting has been raging for more than three years since Russia's massive invasion of Ukraine.

Reported by Reuters on Wednesday, May 28, the latest attack hit the Russian Kronstadt plant, which produces drones in the city of Dubna outside Moscow, and a nearby Raduga plant that produces cruise missiles, Ukraine's general staff said.

The Angstrem microcip factory in Moscow was also attacked, he said, adding that the facility produces components widely used by Russian military industrial complexes.

The factory is located in Elma Technology Park in Zelenograd. The video circulating shows fire and smoke in the tech park. Reuters managed to independently confirm the location of the video, but did not confirm the recording date.

Russia's Defense Ministry said its air defenses brought down 296 Ukrainian drones in 13 areas overnight.

Ukraine's military statement did not explain what weapons it used to carry out the long-range attack. But an official from the Ukrainian SBU Security Service said in a written statement that the Ukrainians used drones. Kyiv does not have long-range missile weaponry.

Ukraine's general staff also said it carried out an attack on factories in the Ivanovo region the day before.

The plant produces organic chemicals, explosives and powder components, as well as additives for rocket and flight fuels.
