DKI Provincial Government Wants To Form A Parking BUMD, Kenneth PDIP: Must Be Transparent, No Collusion-Nepotism

JAKARTA - Member of the PDIP faction of the DKI Jakarta DPRD, Hardiyanto Kenneth, welcomed the discourse of the Governor of DKI Jakarta, Pramono Anung, which opens up opportunities to form regional-owned enterprises (BUMD) that manage parking in Jakarta.

If the DKI Provincial Government sets up a parking management regional company, Kenneth will give a special note.

According to him, the DKI Provincial Government must be able to ensure that the parking BUMD is managed transparently, especially when conducting parking management cooperation with third parties.

"So the scheme is like this, making BUMD park, (land) parking in Jakarta we auction it to the private sector. But the auction is correct, yes. The auction must be correct. It must be transparent, according to the rules, there should be no collusion and nepotism," said Kenneth at the DKI Jakarta DPRD building, Wednesday, May 28.

What is clear is that in planning the formation of a parking BUMD, this member of Commission C of the DKI Jakarta DPRD emphasized that the DKI Provincial Government must first prioritize openness aspects by socializing with relevant stakeholders.

"Maybe later there can be an FGD with community leaders, with mass organizations, or with experts. Later there can be input, the right rules can be determined, regarding how much the tariff is. So, from the start we are clear how much," explained Kenneth.

Kenneth assessed that the formation of BUMD is also more effective in solving the problem of illegal parking which is still mushrooming in Jakarta.

Given, the potential for parking retribution income, both on street and off street in Jakarta, if managed optimally, could reach trillions of rupiah.

Meanwhile, currently parking management from the Parking Management Unit of the DKI Jakarta Transportation Agency is considered not optimal in withdrawing levies of only around Rp. 30 billion per year.

"This parking UPT is not clear. We just ask how they work, they stutter. Then they are confused about the numbers. They don't understand what they want to do. We are confused too. If we look at the potential for parking in Jakarta, this is extraordinary," he added.
