Sarihusada Signs A Memorandum Of Strategic Understanding With The Government Of Indonesia, Increases Health And Community Nutrition

JAKARTA - On the sidelines of the state visit of French President Emmanuel Macron to Indonesia which was held to commemorate 75 years of diplomatic relations between the two countries, Danone through its subsidiary in Indonesia, PT Sarihusada Generasi Mahardhika (PT Sarihusada), signed a strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the National Nutrition Agency (BGN).

This partnership aims to strengthen collaboration in improving public health and nutrition, with a special focus on dealing with iron deficiency anemia in children. This MoU is one of several strategic partnerships signed between the Government of Indonesia and the Government of France.

On this occasion, various companies were invited to inaugurate collaborations in line with the national priority agenda between the two countries. This understanding inaugurates a two-year collaboration that will support Indonesia's national nutritional agenda through the implementation of iron deficiency anemia screening, which aims to produce important basic data and map out the main risk factors to support more targeted public health interventions. In addition, this program also provides balanced nutrition education and promotion of Healthy Clean Life (PHBS) in co-selected locations.

"Indonesia is not just a market for Danone, Indonesia is our home," said Antoine de Saint-Affrique, CEO of Danone, in his statement, Wednesday, May 28.

He explained that the journey of PT Sarihusada, part of Danone's efforts in Indonesia, began in 1954 with a mission to overcome the challenges of child malnutrition, a goal that has continued to be the main foundation in every step of the company.

"Then our strategic partnership was continued with the joining of the Tirto Utomo family since 1998 where this further strengthens our commitment. Through this collaboration, we have further instilled local values in business operations and expanded our positive impacts in various regions in Indonesia," he continued.

"Now through the Danone business section, namely, PT Sarihusada, the company has grown and developed, presenting special nutrition through reliable local brands. The signing of a Memorandum of Understanding with BGN is an important milestone that reflects our full support for President Prabowo's vision of improving the welfare of Indonesian children and families," he added.

This Memorandum of Understanding strengthens PT Sarihusada's long-term commitment to support children's growth and development, especially during the golden period in the First 1,000 Days of Life. Through innovations developed locally and supported globally, PT Sarihusada continues to expand access to safe, affordable, and effective nutritional solutions for Indonesian families.

As the parent of PT Sarihusada, Danone has been present in Indonesia for more than seven decades, with strong local traces covering 24 factories, 84 distributors, and more than 150,000 retail sales points.

With more than 11,000 employees throughout Indonesia, Danone has become part of the Indonesian people, in collaboration with communities, experts, and various public institutions to provide high-quality scientific-based nutrition and encourage a healthier future.
