Zarof Ricar Case Broker Sued For 20 Years In Prison In Ronald Tannur's Free Verdict Case

JAKARTA - Former Supreme Court (MA) official Zarof Ricar was found guilty of having bad consensus and accepted gratuities regarding Gregorius Ronald Tannur's acquittal. Thus, the Public Prosecutor (JPU) sentenced him to 20 years in prison.

"(Demanding) to impose the main sentence on the Defendant Zarof Ricar therefore with a prison sentence of 20 years reduced completely by the length of time the defendant is detained with the defendant's order still being detained at the detention center," said the prosecutor at the Jakarta Corruption Court, Wednesday, May 28.

Not only imprisonment, but the prosecutor also charged Zarof with a crime of Rp. 1 billion. If it is not paid, then, assisted by a Banda sentence of 6 months.

In these demands, the prosecutor has several considerations. For burdensome things, Zarof's actions are considered to have harmed public trust in the judiciary.

"The defendant's actions have injured public trust, especially in educational institutions," said the prosecutor.

In addition, demands for imprisonment and fines were given because the prosecutor believed Zarof Ricar's actions had fulfilled the elements in Article 6 paragraph (1) letter a or Article 5 paragraph (1) and Article 12 B in conjunction with Article 15 in conjunction with Article 18 of the Anti-Corruption Law.

Zarof is a defendant in the alleged case of conspiracy and gratification. In that case, he was charged with conspiracy in the form of assistance to give or promise a judge money worth IDR 5 billion.

In addition, Zarof also received gratuities worth Rp915 billion and 51 kilograms of gold during his tenure in the Supreme Court to assist in case management from 2012 to 2022.

The alleged conspiracy was carried out with legal adviser Ronald Tannur, Lisa Rachmat, with the aim of bribery to Supreme Court Chief Justice Soesilo in Ronald Tannur's case at the cassation level in 2024.
