South Korean Prosecutors Ask KPK To Investigate Problems Caused By The Construction Of PLTU 2 Cirebon

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) is investigating the problems caused by the construction of the Cirebon 2 PLTU from a witness who was questioned on Tuesday, May 27. This step is called to follow up on the prosecutor's request from South Korea.

"Witnesses were present and investigated regarding the problems that arose during the PLTU 2 construction process. This is in line with the South Korean prosecutor's request to want the KPK to investigate this," said KPK spokesman Budi Prasetyo to reporters quoted on Wednesday, May 28.

Budi said the investigation was carried out at the KPK's Red and White building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta. The witness being worked on by the investigator is Rita Susana Supriyanti as the state civil apparatus (ASN) of the Cirebon Regency Government (Pemkab).

South Korean prosecutors are known to have helped in handling this case because of the Mutual Legal Assistance (MLA) mechanism. This is because the alleged bribery related to the permit for the PLTU construction project involves Hyundai Engineering and Construction.

Former GM Hyundai Engineering and Construction Herry Jung has even been named a suspect. His status was announced in 2019 or in the era of Agus Rahardjo's leadership, et al based on the development of a hand arrest operation (OTT) that ensnared former Cirebon Regent Sunjaya Purwadisastra.

In handling this case, the anti-corruption commission has asked for information from five South Korean citizens who when the incident occurred were working in Indonesia. This process was carried out by local prosecutors at the Seoul Central Prosecutor's Office

Meanwhile, Herry Jung actually has the status of an Indonesian citizen (WNI) based on the information gathered.

He became a suspect because he was suspected of giving bribes to Sunjaya worth Rp6.04 billion from his initial promise of Rp10 billion for PT Cirebon Energi Prasarana's permit working on PLTU 2 in Cirebon Regency.

This bribe was carried out in stages through the Head of the Beber Sub-district of Cirebon Regency, Rita Susana, who is also the wife of the Astanajapura Sub-district Head Mahmud Iing Tajudin, on Sunjaya's orders. The process is carried out by making a fictitious Work Order (SPK) with PT MIM (Milades Indah Mandiri).
