Sales Of Lesu Cars In The First Quarter Of 2025 Affect Astra Insurance

JAKARTA - PT Asuransi Astra Buana (Astra Insurance) admitted that the decline in vehicle sales in early 2025 also had an impact on the company's motor vehicle insurance line in the first quarter of 2025.

"(Insurance) motorized vehicles certainly follow the dynamics in the sale of motorized vehicles. We all know, right, this quarter-I (vehicle sales) 4-wheeled vehicle, right, it's down. Of course the insurance will also go down," said the Marketing Retail & Digital Business Director of Astra Wisnu Kusumawardhana Insurance to reporters, quoted Wednesday, May 28.

However, Wisnu was reluctant to mention the details of the decline in vehicle insurance. Even so, he only said the decline rate was more or less similar to car sales. "Yes, it's more or less similar," he said.

According to data from the Association of Indonesian Automotive Industries (Gaikindo), national car sales in wholesales (from factories to dealers) in the first quarter of 2025 were recorded at 205,160 units. This figure is down 4.7 percent when compared to the sales of national car wholesales in the same period the previous year, which was 215,250 units.

Meanwhile, national car sales on a retail basis (from dealers to consumers) decreased 8.9 percent to 210,483 units in the first quarter of 2025 from the first quarter of 2024 as many as 231,027 units.

To encourage the company's performance to grow this year, Wisnu said, his party must diversify its products, in addition to focusing on motor vehicle insurance. He said that his party would try to offer other insurance products to the public.

"We have to be innovative. We know that now the automotive market is down, so we have to be innovative in making other insurance products that are complementary or additional to motorized vehicles," he explained.
