JAKARTA - Candidate for General Chairperson (Caketum) of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) Anindya Bakrie invited West Sumatran entrepreneurs to move up in class in advancing the regional economy.

"In the past 15 years, I have seen that Kadin has complex problems, especially during the pandemic, of course, it is more severe. Let's move forward together to advance from merchant to industry, from medium-sized entrepreneurs to large entrepreneurs," said Anindya Bakrie in Padang, as quoted from Antara, Sunday, May 2.

He said he came to West Sumatra to ask for prayers and blessings to strive in the General Chairperson Election of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry which will be held 2-4 June 2021.

He will try to invite friends in the region to get out of this difficult time. One of them is by strengthening local entrepreneurs in investment activities in the regions.

He gave an example of many entrepreneurs who come to West Sumatra to invest, but so far they do not involve local entrepreneurs.

"We don't want to go forward alone but go forward together with our regional friends," said Anindya Bakrie who is also Deputy Chairman of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

According to him, according to the mandate of the law, Kadin functions to protect companies and business units in the area. In the next few years, he said, various challenges will arise including the issue of food security and he sees West Sumatra as having a strong potential to become a national food barn.

"Here there is a lot of oil palm and rubber, but the industry must also be built to make it stronger," said Anindya Bakrie.

In addition, he continued MSMEs and developing West Sumatra human resources became superior so that they could dominate the national economy.

"When it comes to human resources, the people of West Sumatra are well known as traders and this is quite a potential," said Anindya Bakrie.

According to him, West Sumatra is one of the areas that is able to withstand the attacks of the COVID-19 pandemic. Domestic investment can grow from IDR 1.3 billion to IDR 1.4 billion

"West Sumatra has natural beauty, agricultural and plantation resources, a strong culture, and superior human resources to advance," said Anindya Bakrie.

Meanwhile, the Chairman of Kadin West Sumatra, Ramal Saleh, was grateful for the arrival of Candidates for the General Chairperson of Kadin who explained the vision and mission to members of the West Sumatra Kadin and other associations.
