BRIN ASN Employee Demo, BRIN Head: They Are In The Mutation Process To Other Ministries/Institutions

JAKARTA - Employees of the State Civil Apparatus (ASN) of the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) held a demonstration at the BRIN Office in Jakarta, Tuesday, May 27.

Head of BRIN Laksana Tri Handoko said those who held the protest were employees with "temporary placements" status.

"The employees who protested were BRIN employees who were in temporary placement, because they had not yet found a place in the BRIN homebase area," he said when confirmed Tuesday, May 27, as reported by Antara.

Handoko revealed, since its establishment in 2021, BRIN has integrated human resources from 38 Ministries/Institutions (K/L) in a sustainable manner, where in the process there is an adjustment or transition period.

"All employees are given the freedom to choose formations according to competence, expertise, and interest. In addition, starting in 2025 employees are required to work in their respective homebase units," he said.

Handoko said the temporary placement occurred due to several things, such as capacity mismatch and competence or being subject to disciplinary punishment.

"Most of them are in the process of external mutations to other ministries/agencies and local governments," he explained.

Handoko said this was done as BRIN's responsibility, which is a government institution that is financed by the public.

"We ensure that every ASN works optimally in accordance with the competence and needs of the organization," said Laksana Tri Handoko.

It is known, on Tuesday 27 May this morning, a group of people consisting of 20 BRIN ASN employees held a demonstration in the courtyard of the BRIN office, Jalan MH Thamrin, Jakarta.

They demanded the removal of Laksana Tri Handoko from his current position as Head of BRIN. In addition, they also demanded the cancellation of the mapping system and the return of the researchers to their respective homebases.
