18 Hours Of Search, Man Jumps In Kendari Bay Found Dead

JAKARTA - The Joint SAR team found a man jumping from the Kendari Bay Bridge, Kendari City, Southeast Sulawesi Province (Sultra), on Tuesday 27 May.

Head of Basarnas Kendari Aminuddin PS said the victim named Erin Guswanto (23) was found dead by the Joint SAR Team at around 13.43 WITA, after approximately 18 hours of searching after the victim jumped off the bridge, on Monday, May 26 at around 19:00 WITA.

"It was found not far from the location where the victim fell," Aminuddin said when met in Kendari, Tuesday, May 27, was confiscated by Antara.

He said that after being found, the victim was immediately evacuated and handed over to the family for a funeral.

Aminuddin explained that with the discovery of the victim dead, the SAR operation was in a dangerous condition for one person who jumped on the Kendari Bay Bridge and was declared complete and closed.

"All elements involved in the search are returned to their respective units," he said.

The elements involved in the search included the Ops and Rescue Staff of the Kendari Basarnas, Polairud Polda Sultra, Polairud Headquarters, Kendari Lanal, Kendari KSOP, Kendari KP3, SHMS PUPR Monitoring Office, XIV-404-03 Kendari, UKM SAR UHO, and KARTANA.

"As well as DDV Zakat Sultra, Rumah Zakat sultra, PMI Kendari City, Tagana Sultra, and the victim's family," said Aminuddin.

As previously reported, the Kendari Search and Rescue Office or Basarnas, Southeast Sulawesi dispatched a SAR team to search for a man who jumped into the sea from the Kendari Bay Bridge, Kendari City.

Aminuddin said in the search seven personnel were deployed. The activity was carried out after his party received information from residents related to a man who jumped into the sea at 19.40 WITA.

"We received information from residents that there had been a dangerous condition for humans against one man who jumped on the Kendari Bay Bridge," he said.

Based on this information, his party then dispatched the Kendari Basarnas Rescue Team to the location to provide SAR assistance at 19.55 WITA.
