Menkomdigi Meutya Appreciates Microsoft's Launch Of Central Cloud Region
Microsoft officially launched the Indonesia Central Cloud Region on Tuesday, May 27, the first data center cluster in the country, which is the second data center in Southeast Asia after Singapore.
The Ministry of Communication and Information welcomes Microsoft's launch of the Indonesia Central Cloud Region, at the Microsoft AI Tour Jakarta event, which is expected to strengthen national digital infrastructure.
Minister of Trade Meutya Hafid said that the presence of the Central Cloud Region from Microsoft in Indonesia reflects the confidence of the private sector in the direction of government policies in the digital sector.
"Secondly, Indonesia is considered to have the readiness to manage advanced technologies such as cloud and artificial intelligence not only as users, but also partners who are active in establishing sustainable digital governance and ecosystems," Meutya said on Tuesday, May 27 in its official broadcast.
Meutya hopes that this investment can have an impact on the economy in Indonesia amounting to 2.5 billion US dollars (Rp41 trillion), and the target of 1 million digital training by Microsoft in collaboration with the Government of Indonesia can be achieved.
Previously, the President Director of Microsoft Indonesia, Dharma Simorangkir, emphasized that the development of the Indonesia Cloud Region was included in an investment that was revealed by Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella, amounting to US $ 1.7 billion (IDR 27.6 trillion) in December last year.

The development of its first cloud region in Indonesia has been Microsoft's commitment since 2021. More than just a data center, this cloud region will become the basis for AI-based innovation, providing safe and measurable computing power for Indonesia.
In addition, the Central Cloud Region is also believed to be able to create around 106,295 new jobs from various industries, including manufacturing, resources, finance, government, media communication, and so on.
"We once again welcome and encourage a number of further forms of support after the launch of the Cloud Region, including the development of more AI talents, the establishment of AI centers in various educational institutions in Indonesia," he concluded.
