Prosecutors Demand Death Penalty For Former Members Of The Narcotics Unit Of The Barelang Police
BATAM - The public prosecutor (JPU) of the Batam District Attorney's Office, Riau Islands, demanded the death and life sentence of 10 former members of the Narcotics Unit of the Barelang Police who were involved in the case of processing 1 kg of methamphetamine evidence.
The charges were read out in a trial held at the Batam District Court, Riau Islands, with the first charges read out for the defendant Kompol Satria Nanda, the former Kasatresrkoba Polresta Barelang.
"The defendant Satria Nada was sentenced to death," said Public Prosecutor Ali Naek at the trial as reported by ANTARA, Monday, May 26.
According to the prosecutor, Satria Nanda was legally and convincingly proven guilty of committing a criminal act of attempted or conspiracy to commit a criminal act of drugs without rights or against the law to offer to sell or buy, accept, become an intermediary to buy, exchange, or hand over narcotics class one in the form of non-plants weighing more than 5 grams if.
His actions were declared to have violated Article 87, Article 89, Article 90, Article 91 paragraph (2) and paragraph (3) and Article 92 paragraph (1), paragraph (2), paragraph 3 and paragraph (4), violated Article 114 paragraph (2) in conjunction with Article 132 paragraph (1) of Law Number 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics in conjunction with Article 64 paragraph (1) of the Criminal Code and Article 140 paragraph (2) of Law Number 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics as the first primary indictment and the second public prosecutor.

Apart from Satria Nanda, the defendant Shigit Shargo Edhi, the former Head of Subunit 1 of the Narcotics Unit of the Barelang Police, was also charged with the death penalty, including Subnit 1 investigators, namely Rahmadi, Fadillah and Wan Rahmat.
Meanwhile, six other former members of the Narcotics Unit of the Barelang Police, namely Ariyanto, Alex Chandra, Ibnu Ma'ruf Rambe, and Jaka Surya, were sentenced to life imprisonment.
Meanwhile, the other two defendants, Aziz Martua Siregar and Zulkifli Simanjuntak (dwarf and dealer) were sentenced to 20 years in prison.
