Five Years After Glenn Fredly's Departure, The Bakuucakar Is Still Utuh As A Family

JAKARTA - The Bakuucakar, which was formed in 2007-2008, was originally an accompanying band of Glenn Fredly. For more than 10 years, they performed together on many stages.

Until April 8, 2020, Glenn Fredly died which was a great sorrow for Indonesian music and the future of The Bakuucakar at that time became questionable.

However, until now more than five years after the death of Glenn Fredly The Bakuucakar consisting of Andre Dinuth (guitar), Bonar Abraham (bass), Harry Anggoman (keyboards), Kenna Lango (keyboards, synthesizers), Nicky Manuputty (saxophones), Rayendra Sunito (drums), and Rifka Rachman (vocals) are still standing.

The Bakuucakar still appears on many music stages, most recently they appear on the Soundsfest 2025, to continue the musical heritage left by Glenn Fredly.

'We are like family, not a band. This is like a 'basudara' person. So we already have each other,' said Harry Anggoman, met behind the 2025 Soundsfest stage.

Behind the busyness of the personnel with their respective music projects, The Bakuucakar is still intact as a family and even getting bigger and stronger.

Asked further about The Bakuucakar's plans going forward, given that there are several Glenn Fredly works that have never been released and can be introduced to the public with the help of artificial intelligence (AI), this unit admits there are no plans so far.

"There is no plan, we don't want to make anything artificial for Glenn, it's better if we make something new," said Rayendra. How to present or maintain Glenn Fredly's legacy, the approach does not have to be through AI, at this time.

"We've been feeling playing music together, the connection is human. I'm not sure if it can be replicated with AI. The short answer is, no, but we never know (in the future). Never say never," said Bonar Abraham.
