Polairud Polda Kaltara Examined By Propam, Allegedly Involved In Smuggling Sugar And Rice From Malaysia
TANJUNG SELOR A member of Polairud Polda North Kalimantan (Kaltara) with the initials Bripka L is being investigated for Profession and Security (Propam) because he is suspected of being involved in smuggling 19.6 tons of sugar and rice from Malaysia.
The wooden ship KM Lintas Samudra 07 carrying illegal goods was arrested by the Indonesian Maritime Security Agency (Bakamla) in the waters of Sei Mosquito, Sebatik, Nunukan Regency, on April 27, 2025.
"The ship is suspected to belong to Bripka L, who is currently still active on duty at Polairud Polda Kaltara. We have examined and questioned the person concerned," said the Head of Propam Polda Kaltara, Kombes Pol.
During the initial inspection, Bripka L claimed the ship did not belong to him directly, but it belonged to his wife who was rented out to a third party. "There is a lease agreement governing the rights and obligations of each. But we are still investigating his involvement," said pinadi.
He emphasized that if proven to have violated the code of ethics or discipline, Bripka L would be subject to strict sanctions. "We have reported this case to the leadership and are still in the process of an internal investigation," he said.

The disclosure of this case stems from public reports and intelligence information from the Indonesia Maritime Information Center (IMIC) which detected suspicious activity in Indonesia-Malaysia border waters.
The commander of the KN Gajah Laut-404, Lt. Col. Bakamla Agus Tri Haryanto, then coordinated with the Director of Marine Operations of Bakamla RI, First Admiral Octavianus Budi Susanto, to carry out a pursuit operation.
The Visit, Board, Search, and Seizure (VBSS) team then ambushed the target ship at coordinates 03°26'463 "N - 117°31'121"E. The results of the inspection show the ship was carrying 500 sacks of rice (about 5 tons) and 400 packs of sugar (14.6 tons) without official documents such as Sailing Approval Letter (SPB), cargo documents, import permits, SIUP, and ship crew certificates.
