Minister Of Public Works Ready To Renovate Borobudur Temple Area For French President Macron's Visit

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Public Works (PU) is preparing for French President Emmanuel Macron's visit to Indonesia at the end of May 2025.

PU Minister Dody Hanggodo said French President Macron and Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto plan to visit several places, such as the Military Academy and Borobudur Temple in Magelang, Central Java.

"French President Emmanuel Macron to Indonesia may end in May, one of the locations visited is the Military Academy and he plans to visit Borobudur Temple (in Central Java)," Dody told reporters at his office, Monday, May 26.

The Ministry of Public Works during the visit of the French President was related to infrastructure preparation, especially around the Borobudur Temple area.

"(Ministry) of Public Works at the time of renovating the area, we really focused on the surrounding area, so we didn't enter the main object. Because the main object is under the Ministry of Culture," he said.

Dody added that his party is ready to assist the manager of Borobudur Temple, in this case Injourney to assist in the development of supporting infrastructure related to President Macron's visit.

"We are giving an offer to the manager, in this case Injourney (for) infrastructure readiness related to President Macron's visit," said Dody.

When asked further about the possibility of the French government investing in the Indonesian infrastructure sector, Dody did not know about it.

"Essentially, we are only helping to prepare supporting infrastructure. If there is a problem regarding the details of President Macron's visit with Prabowo, we cannot confirm yet, yes, including investment, it will be the will of President Prabowo," he said.
