WhatsApp Develops Media Hubs To Manage Images, Documents, And Links On Websites
JAKARTA WhatsApp is developing a very interesting feature for users on websites. In the upcoming update, the platform will release a special hub for accessing the media.
This feature was first seen in June 2024, but for mobile applications. Now, WhatsApp is interested in developing this feature on websites. The reason is, this hub display is much more attractive and more accessible on desktop.
Based on WABetaInfo's findings, this hub functions as a media management system. All files that users have sent to chat rooms will be visible in the hub. This means that this feature not only displays images, but also documents and links.
Users can access media hubs on WhatsApp web by clicking on a special icon on the left side of the screen. When the hub opens, users can browse images, videos, and GIFs in the media section so they no longer need to search in the chat room one by one.
In addition, in the document and link section, users will see a summary of the content shared. WhatsApp will also display other details such as contact name and document date and sent link.

This media hub not only displays files that have been sent, but also users can select items in any part. They can select multiple items at once to delete, download back, or forward the file to someone else.
This feature is very useful if the user is looking for files that have been sent to someone, but it is difficult to find them in the gallery. However, users do not need to open the chat room one by one because the entire media is already centralized in the hub.
This chat media hub looks pretty neat on the web version of WhatsApp so it is believed to be released in the next few updates. However, there is still a possibility that this feature will be canceled due to the company's internal decisions.
