BMKG Land Case In Tangsel, Commission III Of The DPR Asks GRIB Jaya Management To Be Criminalized
JAKARTA - Member of Commission III of the DPR RI, Abdullah urged law enforcement officials to immediately arrest and ensnare the criminal organization of the United Indonesia People's Movement (GRIB) Jaya which occupies land belonging to the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) in South Tangerang (Tangsel), Banten.
Abdullah assessed that the land occupation action was a form of confiscation of state rights that had to be responded to firmly. For this reason, he asked the administrators of the mass organizations to be arrested immediately.
"This is not just a matter of land dispute, this has entered the criminal realm. The BMKG land is a state asset, controlled by the government for the public interest. If there are parties who occupy it illegally, especially on behalf of mass organizations, it must be dealt with immediately, do not let it be allowed," Abdullah said, Monday, May 26.
Moreover, Abdullah continued, the land control carried out by GRIB Jaya also disrupted the development process carried out by the BMKG. Therefore, according to him, the central government and law enforcers must not remain silent about the issue of land grabbing.
According to Abdullah, the action of land occupation by the GRIB Jaya management clearly violates the law and has the potential to interfere with the function of BMKG's public services. He also fully supports BMKG's steps to report this case to law enforcement officials.
"Don't selective slash. Everyone involved must be arrested and prosecuted according to applicable regulations. No one is above the law, including the management of mass organizations," said the PKB legislator from the Central Java VI electoral district.

Abdullah also encouraged the government to tighten supervision of state assets and ensure their use according to their designation. He reminded that similar incidents do not happen again in the future.
"We have to make sure the state is present to protect public assets. No one should feel bigger than the state," he concluded.
As previously reported, BMKG reported GRIB Jaya to Polda Metro Jaya, for taking state property. The BMKG land asset, which is suspected to be occupied by the mass organization, has an area of 127,780 square meters. This condition disturbed the BMKG Archive Building construction project which began in 2023.
On the other hand, GRIB Jaya members claim to be the heirs of the land. In fact, according to the BMKG, the land belongs to the state according to the Certificate of Use Rights (SHP) Number 1/Betung Post in 2003, which was previously listed as SHP No. 0005/Betung Post.
This ownership is strengthened through a court decision with permanent legal force, such as the Decision of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Indonesia No. 396 PK/Pdt/2000 dated January 8, 2007.
