DPR Asks China For Support To End Israel's Genocide In Gaza
JAKARTA - Chairman of the House of Representatives (DPR) Puan Maharani asked for the support of Chinese Prime Minister (PM) Li Qiang to end Israel's genocide in Gaza, Palestine.
"Asking for support from China, how can the war in the Gaza region end soon with a two-state solution," said Puan when giving a press statement after hosting PM Li Qiang at the parliament complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Sunday, May 25.
Puan said the DPR and PM Li Qiang discussed efforts to open a blockade of humanitarian aid in the Gaza Strip.
Puan explained that this was one of the discussions between herself and PM Li Qiang regarding the political and economic situation within the regional and global spheres.
"In the meeting, we also discussed various issues related to bilateral cooperation between the two countries, such as politics, economy, social, culture, and of course including cooperation between parliaments," said Puan as quoted by Antara.
In addition to asking to end Israel's genocide in Gaza, on that occasion Puan also said PM Li Qiang's visit to the DPR could strengthen China's relations with the Indonesian people.
"This is a reflection of the Chinese government and also strengthens relations with the Indonesian people through representatives of its people in the DPR," he said.
PM Li Qiang's visit is also considered to be able to strengthen diplomatic relations between Indonesia and China, which has been going on for 75 years. The cooperation between the two countries has been established since the Asia Africa Conference in 1955.
"At that time, Indonesia and China together wanted to free developing countries in Asia-Africa to gain independence," he said.
According to Puan, Indonesia's relations with China are not limited to starting with the current government, but since the first President of the Republic of Indonesia Soekarno formed a friendship with former Chinese President Mao Zedong.
