Dharma Oratmangun Suggests Lesti Kejora And Yoni Dores To Sit Together, LMKN Is Ready To Be Intermediate

JAKARTA - Chairman of the National Collective Management Institute (LMKN) Dharma Oratmangun also responded to legal issues involving the dancer Lesti Kejora.

As is known, Lesti was reported for alleged copyright infringement to Polda Metro Jaya by songwriter Yoni Dores.

When met in Senayan, Central Jakarta on Friday, May 23, Dharma responded to the police report as the right of Yoni Dores as an Indonesian citizen.

"It is the right of all parties to seek justice," said Dharma Oratmangun.

However, Dharma conveyed a message from the dangdut legend, Rhoma Irama, that it would be good if the problems between Lesti and Yoni were discussed carefully by both parties.

"But I got a message from Pak Haji (Rhoma Irama), we urge you to sit down together to find a solution," he said.

Regarding the input to sit down together, Dharma stated that LMKN was willing to mediate.

"There must be mediation, and of course LMKN in this position is ready to mediate, if necessary," added Dharma. Because we are actually one community,

Furthermore, although he has not seen the contents of Yoni Dores' report in its entirety, Dharma said that it is important for musicians to understand the provisions contained in the Copyright Law.

"But the point is, that using a creator's work must have the permission of its copyright owner or heir, That's the core," said Dharma.

"Well, there must be a common understanding, this is a performance rights or mechanical rights. If mechanicals have to get permission, if performing rights is also regulated, you first sing in public spaces, the important thing is that the law on writing must pay royalties through LMK," he concluded.
