Indonesian Tennis Player Janice Tjen Wins At ITF W35 Andong

JAKARTA - Young Indonesian tennis player, Janice Tjen, has again recorded brilliant achievements on the international stage. He successfully won the ITF W35 Andong tournament which took place in South Korea, emphasizing his work as one of the Indonesian women's tennis players who should be reckoned with.

In Sunday's top match, Janice performed outstanding by overthrowing the second seed from China, YeXin Ma, through two straight sets 6-4, 6-2. This result is the second single title in South Korea in the last two weeks.

"Thank you, Korea! One more single title to end this unforgettable journey. Time to take a break and get back to work," Janice wrote in a post on her personal social media, as quoted by ANTARA.

This victory adds to Janice's trophy collection after previously winning the ITF W35 Goyang on May 11. In the tournament, she appeared consistent from the start to the final.

Meanwhile, in the previous week, Janice also reached the semifinals of ITF W35 Changwon. Unfortunately, her steps were stopped in the last four after losing a fierce match to first seed Wushuang Zheng with a score of 5-7, 6-4.

In Andong, Janice's journey was fairly convincing from the start. In the first half, he immediately showed his dominance by defeating the fourth seed from Japan, halo Shimizu, by 6-0, 6-1.

Qualifying for the second half, the 23-year-old, who was then ranked 290 in the WTA version of the world, again performed solidly by defeating India's representative, Vaidehi Chaudhari, 6-2, 6-0.

Janice's dominance continued in the quarter-finals. She only lost one game against the host and fifth seed, Sohyun Park, with a score of 6-0, 6-1.

A fierce battle just started in the semifinals when Janice met Misaki Matsuda from Japan. Despite being under pressure, Janice, who is also the women's doubles bronze medal winner for the 2023 Asian Games Hangzhou with Aldila Sutjiadi, was able to win 7-6(4), 6-3.

Victory in Andong complements Janice's impressive performance during a tour in South Korea. In early May, apart from being successful in singles, she also won a double title at ITF W35 Goyang with Saki Imamura from Japan.

Now, Janice has collected nine single titles and three double titles in the ITF Women's World Tennis Tour tournament, strengthening her reputation as one of the most shining Indonesian women on the world stage.
