Oil Imports From The US Are Called Risky, Bahlil: No Problem
JAKARTA - Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Bahlil Lahadalia responded to the statement by the President Director of PT Pertamina (Persero) Simon Aloysius Mantiri who revealed that the transfer of fuel imports from the United States had various risks.
Bahlil said that Indonesia had actually imported liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) from Uncle Sam's country up to 59 percent and there were no significant problems.
For this reason, he emphasized that he did not accept various reasons not to import fuel from the United States.
"There is no reason! Our LPG also imports from America, 59 percent of our total LPG consumes nationally, from total national LPG imports, 50 percent more than that from America. There is no problem," he told the media crew quoted on Saturday, May 24.
Just so you know, previously the President Director of Pertamina, Simon Aloysius Mantiri, said that there were several risks that Pertamina had to face if later the import activities of fuel and LPG were transferred to the US, including in terms of distance and longer delivery times from the United States, namely around 40 days compared to supply sources from the Middle East or Asian countries.
"If there are problems with weather factors such as storms or fog, it will have a direct impact on national stock resilience," Simon continued.

Therefore, he said, Pertamina is currently conducting a comprehensive study covering technical, commercial, and operational risks to ensure that the scenario of increasing supply from the United States can be carried out effectively.
To overcome this problem, Simon also asked for support in the form of a legal umbrella, both through Presidential Regulations and Ministerial Regulations as the basis for implementing cooperation in energy supply for Pertamina from the US.
"The G2G cooperation commitment between the Indonesian government and the United States government will provide political and regulatory certainty and can then be lowered into business-to-business cooperation at technical and operational levels between companies," said Simon.
