Long Dialogue, Bront Palarae Challenged To Play A Detective In Revenge At Night

JAKARTA - Bront Palarae is one of the cast in Danial Rifki's latest film, Dendam Malam Kelam. Although this is not the first Indonesian film, he has revealed his own challenges in his latest role.

"When I got the scenario, I asked my manager 'Falcon gave me serious?' Because the scenario was good then I read it because the dialogue was long," Bront Palarae said at a press conference in South Jakarta on Friday, May 23.

"I was excited for 2 minutes. Good, come on, but after the third minute it was very difficult. The dialogue was long and the reading time was only knowing Putri (Ayudya), Marissa (Anita) but there was no scene with Marissa. Who is Arya Saloka? Eh, it turns out that my scene is with him," he explained.

The 46-year-old actor plays Arya Pradana, a detective who is involved in a case in a forensic lab. For this role, he tries to show a different side of the detective's appearance in general.

"Try to understand the vision and story of the director's concept universe, so when talking, make noir immediately have a checklist, so after that just jacket," said Bront Palarae.

"There are several options and we choose that one and the process that for us is trying to find something special for Indonesian audiences because other versions have been made, so if you want to adapt, one of them is a jacket," he said.

The film Dendam Malam Kelam tells the story of Sofia Arini's body (Missa Anita) missing from the forensic laboratory. Arya Pradana (Bront Palarae) as a detective suspects Sofia's husband, Jefri Adam (Arya Saloka).

The film Dendam Malam Kelam will be released in Indonesian cinemas starting May 28, 2025.
