Bappenas Calls World Expo 2025 Event RI Promotes Investment-Tourism
JAKARTA - The Ministry of National Development Planning/National Development Planning Agency (PPN/Bappenas) emphasizes that the 2025 World Expo Osaka, Japan, is an event for Indonesia to promote investment and tourism.
"The World Expo 2025 Osaka is a stage for Indonesia to promote investment, trade and tourism, as well as strengthen bilateral relations with Japan and other countries," said Head of the Bureau of Public Relations, Archives and Administration of the Head of the Ministry of National Development Planning/Bappenas Ardian Budhi Nugroho as reported by ANTARA, Friday, May 23.
Indonesia's participation in the 8th World Expo 2025 has involved 158 countries and 7 international organizations which take place from 13 April-13 October 2025.
As in the previous World Expo implementation, he continued, Indonesia's participation in the 2025 World Expo Osaka involved collaboration with various parties.
Starting from the central and regional governments, the private sector, associations, the creative community, to individuals who pay attention to the advancement of culture, natural conservation, and transformation of Indonesia's economy towards Indonesia Gold 2045.
Based on the Decree of the Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia Number 269 of 2023 concerning the Coordination Team for the Preparation and Implementation of Participation of the Government of the Republic of Indonesia at Expo 2025 Osaka, Bappenas was appointed as the Respondible National Authority (RNA).
The task of Bappenas is to coordinate and ensure the success of Indonesia's participation in this global event which is held every five years.
The preparation process for the 2025 World Expo Osaka has started in 2022, with the construction of the Indonesian Pavilion on an area of 1,750 m2, then interior filling and content preparation including the preparation of films which will be held in 2024-2025.
The management of the Indonesian Pavilion and the implementation of various activities such as business forum, one-on-one meeting, rolling exhibition, and cultural performance are held for six months, namely April-October 2025.
Preparations and implementation of the participation of the Indonesian Government through the Indonesian Pavilion supported by APBN funding which is budgeted annually from 2022 to 2025.
"This amount of budget cannot be compared to the annual budget of one ministry, because it is a whole cycle of participation at the 2025 World Expo Osaka," said Ardian.
The development of collaboration in the preparation and implementation of various activities at the Indonesian Pavilion is also said to be a mission of the participation of the Indonesian government in the 2025 World Expo Osaka.
Support from various parties, including Astra International, KAPPI, Royal Golden Eagle, Artha Graha Peduli, Indofood, and Japfa, as well as Didit Hediprasetyo Foundation (DHF) are considered to have improved the presentation ability of the Indonesian Pavilion.
Therefore, Indonesia was able to attract more than 500 thousand visitors on the 39th day of the event.

One of the contributions that is considered significant is DHF's commitment to financing itself has helped curate exhibition design and activities such as rolling exhibitions and cultural performance, so that the Indonesian Pavilion is able to show the wealth and excellence of cultural arts, as well as its promotion in international events.
"Indonesia's participation in this five-year event aims to strengthen Indonesia's nation branding in the eyes of the world," he said.
According to Ardian, the presence of the Indonesian Pavilion is a storefront for the diversity and progress of the nation, as well as a center for dialogue and cross-sectoral collaboration.
"Through every business forum, cultural performance, and rolling exhibition, Indonesia shows the spirit of mutual cooperation, wisdom in maintaining and advancing cultural arts, as well as openness to establish broad collaboration to support the realization of Indonesia's future as a developed, inclusive, sustainable, and global competitive country," he said.
