Government Bridges Aplikators And Drivers Looking For Tariff Points That Are Considered Structuring

Minister of State Secretary and Spokesperson for President Prasetyo Hadi stated that the government is trying to bridge communication between applicator companies and online motorcycle taxi workers (ojol) to find solutions related to the polemic of tariff cuts.

"We are trying to bridge, communicate between the applicator and fellow workers in the ojol, [related] pieces to find common ground, because they have to sit and discuss, because each has a calculation," said Prasetyo as quoted by ANTARA, Friday, May 23.

Prasetyo revealed that several related ministries had received hearings from ojol representatives.

The government, he said, is committed to immediately finding common ground considering the important role of ojol in supporting the economy, both in terms of the number of workers and its contribution to economic activity.

"So we want to find a meeting point so that we can profit together. We are prosperous together, moving forward together," said Prasetyo.

Ojol drivers demand a cut in tariffs from a maximum of 20 percent to 10 percent. This tariff cut demand has been repeatedly submitted by the ojol association, including in a demonstration on May 20, 2025.

The association said that so far the applicator cut more than 20 percent and violated the rules.

Previously, representatives of four leading applicators in Indonesia had spoken out about the commission scheme for the results of their driver-partners.

Gojek President Catherine Hindra Sutjahyo, in a meeting with the Minister of Transportation Dudy Purwagandhi in Jakarta, Monday (19/5), said the commission cuts carried out by the applicator were in accordance with the Ministry of Transportation's regulations, which was 20 percent.

Catherine responded to a driver-partner request regarding a 10 percent reduction in commission cuts, but she considered it a risk of reducing total income or take home paymitra as a whole.

According to him, although the 10 percent discount is seen to increase revenue per transaction, the number of transactions has the potential to decrease significantly so that it has a greater impact on the decrease in total income received by driver partners every day.

Similarly, Grab Indonesia's Chief of Public AffairsOR R Munusamy stated that Grab collected a commission from ojol partners of no more than 20 percent. This is also agreed by the Government Relations Specialist Maxim Indonesia, Muhammad Rafi Assagaf, who emphasized that Maxim set commission cuts of no more than 20 percent.

Meanwhile, InDrive Business Director Ryan Rwanda revealed that the deductions applied by his party were much lower. InDrive only wears 11.7 percent discounts for car services and 9.99 percent for motorcycles, especially in the DKI Jakarta area.
