JAKARTA - Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi revealed the reason for the position of Director General of Customs and Excise was held by Lt. Gen. TNI (Ret.) Djaka Budi Utama because the institution needed a brave figure.
Lt. Gen. TNI (Ret.) Djaka Budi Utama, who previously served as the Main Secretary of the State Intelligence Agency (BIN) was inaugurated as the new Director General of Customs and Excise by the Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani on Friday, May 23.
"That this Customs and Excise after we learned, requires a figure who must be brave. Because there, I'm sorry, but we all understand that there are so many violations that enter through the Customs route," Prasetyo said as quoted by ANTARA.
Prasetyo explained that there were many violations at the Directorate General of Customs and Excise, such as smuggling illegal goods from the institution.
When asked about the appointment from the TNI to fill the position of Director General of Customs and Excise, Prasetyo assessed that the TNI is the most trusted institution and is at the forefront of various sectors.
In addition, Customs and Excise that has posts spread throughout Indonesia also requires people who are able to coordinate across regions, agencies and ministries.
"He will not work alone. For some things, we will work hard for us to 'beaten up' together. Once again, the substance is that we really want to work hard to increase our income by controlling it," said Prasetyo.

For this reason, two director-general at the Ministry of Finance, namely the Director-General of Taxes held by Bimo Wijayanto, and the Director-General of Customs and Excise, which is held by Djaka Budi Utama, is the appointment of President Prabowo Subianto with Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani.
"We are concentrating on now pursuing what is called increasing state revenue, especially from the tax and customs sector. We feel that after we have learned, there are many things that we really have to fix. And that is the concern of the government, the concern of the President, the concern of the Minister of Finance," said Prasetyo.
