Yusril: Presidential Regulation For Prosecutor Protection By TNI-Polri Given Clear Limits
Coordinating Minister for Law, Human Rights, Immigration and Corrections Yusril Ihza Mahendra said Presidential Regulation (Perpres) Number 66 of 2025 concerning the Protection of the State to the Prosecutors, provides clear limits regarding the protection tasks that can be given by the TNI/Polri.
"Indeed, there is a new Presidential Decree signed by the President that it is not only the TNI, yes, but also to the Police and there are certain limits that the Police and the TNI can provide assistance at the request by the prosecutor's office," said Yusril in Jakarta, Thursday, May 22.
According to him, the Presidential Decree entitled "Fully of State Protection against Prosecutors in Carrying out Tasks and Functions of the Prosecutor's Office of the Republic of Indonesia" regulates the protection by the TNI and Polri can only be granted if there is a request from the prosecutor's office.
Protection by the TNI is given to the prosecutor's office institutionally, while protection by the Police is given to the prosecutor personally. This aims to assist in escorting and securing the prosecutor's office in conducting investigations, investigations, and prosecutions.
Yusril said Presidential Decree No. 66/2025 also dismissed the narrative that was busy, only the TNI carried out the task of guarding the prosecutor's office. In fact, he said, the police were also involved.
"So [personal protection] is more for the police, but the prosecutor's institutional is more for the TNI. So indeed it is regulated in the Presidential Regulation and I think it is quite clear about the regulation," said Coordinating Minister Yusril.
