Hansi Flick Extends His Term Of Service At Barcelona

JAKARTA - Barcelona manager Hansi Flick has extended his contract after taking the 2024/2025 La Liga title. He will be with the Blaugrana until 2027.

The 60-year-old coach was appointed last summer and has brought Barcelona to domestic trebles in his first season, winning La Liga, Copa del Rey, and the Spanish Super Cup (Supercopa de Espana).

The Blaugrana have also made progress in the Champions League, reaching the first semifinals since 2019 before losing to Inter Milan through an extension round.

The contract of former Bayern Munich and the German National Team will previously expire in 2026.

Barcelona will be open to offering Flick a longer contract, but he has spoken regularly about his preference for signing a contract for a shorter period of time.

"I'm not the coach who wants to sign a contract for three years. We've just started this project and at this level."

"It's fantastic to survive, but I'm moving forward from year to year. I have a lot of energy and thoughts in my head about what we can do and what it takes to make the team better."

"This team has more potential," he said in April 2025 when asked about a possible new contract.

Flick has changed Barcelona this season, turning a team that didn't win a trophy last year to win three domestic titles. Not only that, he emphasized that the Blaugrana was a force in Europe thanks to the attacking football style.

The shutdown of the brilliant campaign will take place on Sunday, May 25, 2025, when the Catalan side travels to the Athletic Club headquarters for the final La Liga game before the summer break.

Their holiday time was extended because Barcelona were not involved in the 2025 Club World Cup.
