2 Israeli Embassy Staff Shot Dead, Trump: Terrible Murder, Radicalism Has No Place In The US

JAKARTA - US President Donald Trump condemned the shooting of 2 Israeli embassy staff outside the Jewish Musem in Washington DC. Trump stressed that violence must end.

"This horrific murder in DC, which is clearly based on antisemitism, must end now!" Trump said in a message on Truth Social.

"Hate and Radicalism have no place in the US," Trump added.

Meanwhile, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu expressed deep sorrow for the victim's family for the murder of antisemitism.

"We are witnessing the very expensive price of antisemitism and illegal incitement against the State of Israel. The bloody slander against Israel has increased and must be fought until the end," he said in a statement.

Meanwhile, the US Secretary of Homeland Security, Kristi Noem, emphasized that the legal process against the perpetrators was complete.

"We will take the depraved perpetrator to court," he said via upload X.

Israeli Ambassador to the US Yechiel Leiter said the two victims were lovers.

"The couple who were shot dead tonight will get engaged," he said.

The young man bought the ring this week with the intention of proposing to him next week in Jerusalem, continued Leiter.

The Israeli ambassador claimed to have received a call from President Donald Trump late Wednesday, promising US support in fighting anti-Semitism.

The victim, a man and a woman were shot dead while leaving the event at the Jewish Museum on Wednesday, May 21 evening local time.

The suspect, identified as Elias Rodriguez, 30 years old from Chicago, was arrested at the scene and is being investigated.

FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino said initial indicators indicated the shooting was a "targeted attack."

After the shooting, officials said Rodriguez attempted to enter the building where the event took place and was stopped by event security officers.

After being arrested, he started shouting, Free, free Palestine, said DC Police Chief Pamela Smith.
