Bluesky Tests 'Live' Indicators To Help Promote YouTube And Twitch Streamers

JAKARTA Bluesky announced a new feature on its platform, namely the Live indicator. This feature that is being tested will be displayed around the profile photo when creators or other accounts are streaming.

However, the streaming is not done inside Bluesky, but outside the platform. If the Live indicator is knocked, users will see the broadcast thumbnail with the title caption below. Users can see where the streaming is done.

"Starting this week, certain accounts can add live streaming links to sites like YouTube or Twitch, and their Bluesky profiles will show that they are broadcasting live," Bluesky said via his personal account.

As an initial testing phase, this indicator will appear on the official NBA account while streaming is running. This indicator will be extended to more users once testing is complete. For now, Bluesky still needs input for the improvement of its features.

This feature is very different from what X developed, formerly known as Twitter. Instead of throwing users on other video platforms, sports organizations such as NFL, MLB, and NHL must broadcast their content on platform X.

This is done so that users don't switch to other platforms. In an interview, COO Bluesky, Rose Wang, briefly said that they would not do anything like that. They just want to help users connect with other platforms.

"We didn't trap you (to watch) on Bluesky," Wang wrote in a Bluesky post, quoted on Thursday, May 22. "We want you to use Bluesky to find out what's going on (on other streaming platforms)."
