Encouraging Press Quality Improvement, BRI Announces 45 Journalists Recipient Of The 2025 Fellowship Journalism Scholarship

JAKARTA - PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia (Persero) Tbk or BRI has again shown its commitment to supporting the improvement of the quality of the national media industry through the BRI Fellowship Journalism 2025 program. A total of 45 journalists from various media throughout Indonesia were officially announced as recipients of scholarships for master's degree (S2) education this year.

In general, the BRI Fellowship Journalism 2025 program was attended by 256 journalists from various media platforms, including online media, print media, television, and radio in the period September to November 2024. Of these, 151 participants were declared to have passed the administrative selection and continued to the psychological test stage in January 2025.

Furthermore, as many as 129 participants took part in the Journalist on Site stage which lasted for two months from March to April 2025. This stage contains mentoring and coaching sessions facilitated by editor-in-chief and senior journalists from various national media, as part of the intensive mentoring process before determining the end of the scholarship recipients. This process is carried out to select participants objectively through a number of stages designed to maintain the quality of the program as a whole.

Based on the overall process, 45 journalists were designated as scholarship recipients and officially announced on the BRI website in May 2025. The mentors who participated in this program were leaders of national media editors and senior journalists. The presence of these mentors made an important contribution in providing participants with relevant perspectives, experiences, and inputs on the dynamics of the current journalistic profession.

BRI Fellowship Journalism is part of BRI's social value initiative within the framework of BRI Peduli's Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program. This program has been held six times as a form of BRI's consistency in supporting the improvement of Indonesia's press quality. Through this program, BRI provides an opportunity for journalists to pursue advanced education at postgraduate level.

BRI Corporate Secretary Agustya Hendy Bernadi said that healthy and quality journalism is an important foundation in building public literacy. "Through this BRI Fellowship Journalism program, we hope to provide learning space and increase the competence of journalists, as well as appreciation for journalists who have carried out their role independently and constructively. This is part of our contribution to support a strong and competitive national press," he added.
