Pertamina Refinery Signs Gas Supply Agreement With PHE ONWJ
TANGERANG - PT Kilang Pertamina Internasional (KPI) and PT Pertamina Hulu Energi Offshore North West Java (PHE ONWJ) have agreed to sign the Gas Sale and Purchase Agreement (PJBG) at the IPA Convention and Exhibition 2025 which took place at ICE BSD City.
In this agreement, KPI will use long-term gas supply to meet gas needs at the Balongan refinery located in Indramayu Regency, West Java.
"With this agreement, the availability of long-term gas supply for the Balongan refinery will be guaranteed, and it is hoped that the plan to increase gas supply from the OO-OC-OX gas field in the ONWJ Working Area can operate on time in early 2026," said KPI President Director Taufik Aditiyawarman, Wednesday, May 21.
Taufik said the gas supply volume that KPI will obtain for the Balongan Refinery from the PJBG cooperation will reach 23 Billion British Thermal Units per Day (BBTUD).
Taufik hopes that this gas supply can increase the operational reliability of the KPI refinery to ensure the availability of fuel oil for domestic needs.
In addition, at the IPA Convex 2025 event, KPI also signed the PJBG amendment with EMP Bentu Limited for gas needs at the Dumai Refinery.
This amendment aims to extend the gas supply period from the Bentu Working Area until 2028 and to maximize Make-Up Gas collection efforts at the Dumai Refinery.
"EMP Bentu Limited is one of our strategic partners. Thanks to the support from the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources and SKK Migas, cooperation with EMP will be able to ensure gas supply security and support the operations of the KPI refinery," said Taufik.

He added that the signing of the two PJBGs was not just a business.
More than that, this is a form of KPI's commitment to meet national energy needs in a more environmentally friendly way.
Therefore, the use of gas in refinery operations is also one of KPI's efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and encourage decarbonization.
According to Taufik, this is in line with KPI's commitment to supporting the Net Zero Emission (NZE) target in 2060 or sooner.
These efforts are also in line with the sustainable development goals (SDGS) points 7 and 13, namely realizing clean and affordable energy, as well as actions to combat climate change and its impacts.
"The use of gas as fuel for oil processing at refineries will also increase refinery efficiency and produce cleaner emissions so that it can increase KPI's contribution to emission reduction," Taufik said after the signing of the PJBG at the IPA event.
