Store Employees In Aceh Arrested For Embezzling Sales Money 224 Cellphones Rp904 Million

The East Aceh Police have arrested an employee suspected of embezzling money from the sale of 224 units of telephones of various brands in the shop where he worked with losses of more than Rp904 million.

Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of the East Aceh Police, Iptu Adi Wahyu Nurhidayat, said the employee had the initials TM (33), a resident of Keude Aceh, Idi Rayeuk District.

"TM embezzled money from the sale of hundreds of telephone units with a total loss of hundreds of millions of rupiah. The money was used to play online gambling or online from early 2025," Adi said as quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, May 21.

Embezzlement was revealed after the shop owner with the initials YA (35) felt that there were irregularities in his daily financial records that did not match the amount of money that should have been at the cashier.

After checking, YA found a large difference in the amount of money. The results of the examination showed that many items were sold, but were not recorded and or no sales note was issued.

"Feeling that something was wrong, YA asked TM about the phone being sold. TM gave an answer that the item was sold and the money from the sale was used to play online gambling," said Adi Wahyu Nurhidayat.

Hearing TM's confession, the shop owner then made a complaint to the East Aceh Police SPKT. From the police report, TM was arrested at the shop where he worked. The total loss suffered by the shop reached more than Rp904 million.

"For his actions, TM is suspected of under Article 374 subsidiary Article 372 of the Criminal Code with a threat of five years in prison. Investigators will immediately complete the case file to be transferred to prosecution," said Adi.
