BRIN And ISRO Will Build A New Earth Station In Indonesia

JAKARTA The National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) will build the latest earth station with the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO). This station was built to strengthen space technology in Indonesia.

The construction of this latest earth station will strengthen Indonesia's space partnership with India. BRIN Deputy for Research and Innovation Infrastructure, Iman Hidayat, said that this station will support ISRO's satellite operations.

"The plan is to build another earth station so that it can reach all parts of Indonesia," said Iman when he visited the BRIN Earth Station in Biak, Papua, quoted on Wednesday, May 21.

In addition to building the latest earth stations, BRIN will also increase the capacity of human resources (HR) by preparing 12 experts. Dozens of these experts will receive direct training from space experts ISRO.

That way, BRIN can support India's satellite tracking operations to the fullest. Even though the plan to build the latest earth station has been disclosed, Iman does not explain which areas or cities this station will be built.

Currently, Indonesia has four earth stations managed by BRIN, one of which is the Field Station Area (KSL) of BRIN Earth Station in Biak. This station has five antennas that support tracking, telemetry, and comment (TTC) activities.

The earth station is a facility built to communicate with objects in space, including satellites. Of the four natural stations in Indonesia, KSL in Biak will be BRIN's main research facility in the near future.

Recruited Laboratory Manager for BRIN Research and Technology Facility Research and Technology, Chichi Sintia Laksani, also revealed that Biak Earth Station will be used to develop technologies related to space needs.
