Demo Mau Day, Workers Perform Antigen Test First
JAKARTA - A mass of workers and students held a demonstration in the area of the National Monument (Monas), Jakarta, to commemorate World Labor Day or May Day today, Saturday, May 1.
The Confederation of All Indonesian Workers Unions (KSPSI) Andi Gani Nena Wea said the aim of today's action was only to the Constitutional Court (MK) and the State Palace.
"There are only two points we are aiming for today. To the Constitutional Court, we will submit a petition for Indonesian workers. The second is the State Palace, God willing, will be accepted by KSP," said Andi Gani at Monas, Saturday, May 1.
Andi said, all participants in the action continued to implement the health protocol by first doing the antigen self-test. His party has also coordinated with Polda Metro Jaya.
"All participants followed the health protocol, all participants had antigen swabs. Those who did not do this, the police also helped us to do the swab," he explained.
Even though it was limited due to the pandemic, Andi Gani said that the workers were still enthusiastic about voicing their aspirations to ask the government to cancel Law No.11 of 2020 concerning Job Creation or the Omnibus Law.
"I think the spirit is still there despite the restrictions. Mami did it in order to comply with health protocols," he said.
After that, dozens of masses who were members of the KSPI and the KSPSI moved towards the Constitutional Court building.
However, only 20 people were allowed to enter the Constitutional Court (MK) building to submit a petition for Indonesian workers.
