Prabowo Talks About Threats, Home Photographed, Car Followed: KPK Prepares SOP

JAKARTA - Chairman of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Setyo Budiyanto said his party had prepared standard operating procedures (SOP) for its employees who were threatened.

This was conveyed by Setyo in response to President Prabowo Subianto who stated that there was a threat to law enforcement officials who exposed corruption cases. According to him, the KPK even had a quick reaction team to reduce job risk.

"There is a process, there is an SOP for employees," Setyo told reporters at the ACLC building of the KPK RI, Rasuna Said, South Jakarta, quoted on Wednesday, May 21.

"Then we can also call on the cellphone, the term is for emergency, yes, contacting the general bureau section where there is a quick reaction team, we can respond if, for example, there is a report or information experienced by employees when dealing with things of a nature, yes, something emergency," he continued.

In addition, Setyo also said that employees who work in the field usually receive security assistance from the Police. "Wherever (work together, ed)," said the former KPK Director of Investigation.

Even so, Setyo said that so far he had never received a report that there were employees who were threatened while carrying out their duties.

"Maybe there is but never said, yes, it might be situational," he said.

"So if he has such thoughts, maybe because there is information conveyed to the President and it can be the concern of all parties," explained Setyo.

The statement regarding the threat to law enforcement officers who handled corruption allegations was conveyed by Prabowo when giving a speech at the IV Tidar Congress event at the Borobudur Hotel, Central Jakarta, Saturday, May 17. There, the former Minister of Defense spoke that he had been sworn in to carry out the mandate of the 1945 Constitution.

On that occasion, Prabowo claimed to have saved hundreds of trillions by dismantling various corruption cases. He ensured that it would not stop because the 1945 Constitution mandated the country's wealth to be for the prosperity of the people.

"We will not stop and I already know that law enforcers are being threatened. I know, I received a report. Some of the houses were visited, some their cars were followed, some their houses were photographed," Prabowo said at the event.
