Jim Morrison's Chest Statue, Which Was Stolen From 37 Years Ago, Has Been Rediscovered

JAKARTA - It has been more than five decades since Jim Morrison's death. However, various things related to the founder and initial vocalist of The Doors are still interesting to see today.

Recently, a breast statue of Jim Morrison stolen from his grave 37 years ago, was found in Paris, France by the French police's financial and anti-corruption division.

The discovery of Jim Morrison's chest statue was also announced through Instagram uploads.

"After 37 years of disappearance, Jim Morrison's chest statue stolen in 1988 from the cemetery of Pere Lachaise was finally found," wrote the French police's finance and anti-corruption division, citing an upload caption, Wednesday, May 21.

"During an investigation conducted by the Finance and Anti-Corruption Brigades from the Judicial Police Directorate of Police from Police Prefecture, under the auspices of Paris Parquet, the iconic symbol of the singer's fans was successfully recovered," he continued.

It was not further explained how the investigation was carried out and the statue was found. In addition, no suspect was named in the theft of the statue.

To Rolling Stone, a representative from Morrison's family said they were pleased with the discovery of the historic items. He added that Morrison's family wanted the statue to be returned to the grave.

"So, it's great to see that it has been recovered," Morrison's family representative said.

The theft of Jim Morrison's chest statue from the tomb is not the only controversy. On the 20th anniversary of his death, fans rioted at his grave and had to be dissolved by the police.

For information, Morrison lived in the Marais district of Paris when he died suddenly at the age of 27. He was found dead in the bathroom by his girlfriend, Pamela Courson.

The doctor's report stated that the cause of death was heart failure which was exacerbated by alcohol.
