Indonesian Navy Destroys 2 Tons Of Smuggled Drugs Worth IDR 7.5 Trillion In Riau Islands
BATAM - The Indonesian Navy's National Army (TNI AL) together with law enforcement agencies and related agencies destroyed 2.061 tons of narcotics evidence as a result of smuggling failure in the waters of the Riau Islands (Kepri) which had a value of IDR 7.5 trillion.
"Jajarit Jalasena TNI AL managed to thwart an attempt to smuggle drugs with an economic value of Rp7.5 trillion and saved more than 16 million people from the nation's generation," said Deputy Chief of Naval Staff (Wakasal) Vice Admiral TNI Erwin S. Aldedharma as reported by ANTARA, Tuesday, May 20.
The destruction was held at Base Utama TNI AL (Lantamal) IV Batam, and was carried out at the incinerator to destroy 768,823 grams of crystal methamphetamine and 1,285,030 grams of cocaine.
The prosecution began with a report by the Indonesian Navy intelligence, and continued with marine patrols on foreign fishing vessels (KIA) with the Thai flag. The ship has five crew members with the initials KS, a Thai citizen, and four members of Myanmar nationals with the initials UTT, AKO, KL, and S.
The ship was stopped when it entered Indonesian waters and was found carrying large amounts of narcotics.
"For ports of origin and destinations, the ship is still in the process of being investigated, so we can't give a definite answer yet," he said.
