In A Month's Currency, The Who Twice Prcat Zak Starkey

JAKARTA - The Who's relationship with Zak Starkey seems so complicated lately. In just a month, the London, England rock band kicked out the drummer twice.

As is known, The Who fired Starkey in mid-April, following their performance at the Royal Albert Hall.

But a week later, Pete Townshend made a statement that The Who did not ask Starkey to resign, but asked him to tighten his playing style.

The guitarist's statement also made Starkey stay in the band at least for some time.

Not even a month, Townshend through the official Instagram account of The Who again reported the dismissal of Starkey's second.

"After years of hard work Zak on the drums, the time has come for change. The touching moment. Zak has a lot of new projects and I wish him all the best," said Pete Townshend, citing an upload caption, Tuesday, May 20.

On the other hand, Starkey made a statement showing his relationship with the band was so complicated. He admits he doesn't really want to leave The Who.

"I was fired two weeks after being re-employed and asked to make a statement saying I had left The Who to pursue my other musical venture. This will be a lie. I love The Who and will never stop," Starkey said.

"So I'm not making that statement... coming out of The Who will also let down a lot of great people who support me (thank you so much and more) for weeks of chaos as I go in and out like a pressure box," he continued.

However, Statkey does not deny that he is undergoing another music project outside of The Who.

"Nothing of this (project) has ever bothered The Who and has never been a problem for them. The lie is or will happen that I left The Who 'I didn't. I love The Who and everyone in it," said the drummer.
