Update On COVID-19 As Of April 16: First Time Has Passed 100 Cases Healed A Day

JAKARTA - The central government through the Spokesperson for the Task Force for Handling COVID-19 Achmad Yurianto (Yuri) said that for the first time a case of recovering from the corona virus or COVID-19 had penetrated more than 100 patients a day. That way, the data on total recovered patients reached 548 people who were declared cured of COVID-19.

"The number of cases healed increased by 102 people, so that the total number of cases recovered was 548," said Yuri at Graha BNPB, Jakarta, Thursday, April 16.

For positive cases, Yuri continued, there were an additional 380 people from all parts of Indonesia. The total number of positive patients with COVID-19 was 5,516 cases.

Meanwhile, there were 27 more patients who were treated in hundreds of hospitals dealing with COVID-19. The total number of cases died reached 496 people.

The increase in the number also occurred in patient data under surveillance (PDP) with a total of 11,873 people. Meanwhile, cases of people under monitoring (ODP) increased to 169,446 from the previous day at 165,549 people.

Although the number of recovered cases increased quite a lot, the same thing happened to positive cases. Yuri also kept reminding the public to stay at home.

Yuri admitted that economic problems were a major factor that made people unable to stay at home all the time. For this reason, the government has issued a number of policies to help people affected by COVID-19.

Several policies, such as pre-work cards, basic food assistance, and a reduction in electricity costs, which reached 50 percent, were specifically for customers with a capacity of 900 watts. In fact, customers with a carrying capacity of this figure or 450 watts will not be charged by the government.

"Pre-work cards have been issued with monthly incentives that reach more than Rp3.5 million per person, Rp.600,000 worth of basic food assistance in several areas," said Yuri.

Then, assistance will also be provided in the field of people's business credit by postponing installments and interest for 6 months. Furthermore, related to the assistance issued by the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government, said Yuri, this applies every month by means of the distribution of groceries worth Rp. 600 thousand.

"The Ministry of Health and local governments, with a determined scheme, will bear the costs of caring for this COVID-19 patient," said Yuri.
