Minister Of Transportation Dudy Doesn't Ban Ojol Drivers From Massive Demo

JAKARTA - Minister of Transportation (Menhub) Dudy Purwagandhi said his party did not prohibit online motorcycle taxi drivers (ojol) and online taxis from conducting large-scale demonstrations.

It is planned that hundreds of ojol will hold simultaneous demonstrations tomorrow, Tuesday, May 20, 2025. This demonstration will also be accompanied by a temporary suspension of mass application services (off bids).

"About tomorrow, I appreciate what is the right of citizens to express their aspirations. So please, please convey your aspirations," he said at a press conference in Jakarta, Monday, May 19.

Even so, Dudy hopes that ojol drivers will convey their aspirations to the online transportation service applicator. So, he continued, the applicator knows the complaints of the ojol driver.

"But actually when it comes to technicality, the aspirations must be conveyed to the perpetrators. Because the demonstration is his children," he said.

According to Dudy, ojol drivers must also focus on the aspirations that will be conveyed. That way, the applicator can find out what solution to complain about.

"We heard that there was, I asked one by one. Yesterday's question was about tariffs, then employee status, discounts, all kinds of things. That's what we ask the perpetrators," he said.

For your information, Garda Indonesia as an ojol driver association and online taxis will hold a demonstration on Tuesday, May 20, 2025. This action will be followed by 500 drivers. The plan, they will also turn off their application.

Chairman of the Indonesian Guard Raden Igun Wicaksono said that in addition to the arrival of thousands of ojol and online taxis from various directions, starting from East Java, Central Java, Yogyakarta, Cirebon, Bandung, Cikampek and Karawang from east Java, Jakarta and also hundreds of ojol from west Java, such as from Palembang, Lampung and Banten Raya.

"The 2025 Grand Action will be concentrated at the Merdeka Palace, the Ministry of Transportation and the Indonesian House of Representatives, so it is very likely that some of Jakarta will be paralyzed due to long traffic jams, so we apologize from afar if there are people trapped in traffic jams and disturbances in community activities," said Igun.
