Central Jakarta Satpol PP Tegur 8 Mall Restaurants In Senayan That Let Visitors More Capacity

JAKARTA - The Civil Service Police Unit (Satpol PP) issued a written warning against eight restaurants in a shopping center in the Senayan area, South Jakarta, which allowed visitors to exceed their capacity.

"We admonished the manager, given a written warning, we posted it at the restaurant concerned. Next time (it's busy) we will be fined," said Head of Central Jakarta Satpol PP Bernard Tambunan, quoted by Antara, Friday, April 30.

Bernard explained that the eight restaurants were found to have violated the capacity limit of 50 percent during breaking the fast.

Supposedly, the restaurant manager can arrange so that visitors do not crowd and cause the potential for the spread of COVID-19.

However, Satpol PP officers did not forcefully disperse restaurant visitors who were breaking their fast.

"We are unlikely to disperse people breaking their fast. Breaking the fast is also not prohibited, as long as it does not exceed the capacity, do not get close like that," said Bernard.

Bernard explained that his party will routinely monitor health protocols, especially in shopping centers that have a "food court" before breaking the fast.

Apart from shopping centers, Central Jakarta Satpol PP also intensively monitors potential crowds during Ramadan, such as at Tanah Abang Market, roadside stalls, to dawn hours to anticipate "sahur on the road".
