Halal Labeled But Containing Pigs, 10,753 Candy Marshmallow In Samarinda Burned
SAMARINDA - A total of 10,753 children's food products in the form of sweets containing pork gelatin (porcine) were destroyed by burning them in Samarinda City, East Kalimantan.
The destruction was carried out by PT Delta Anugerah Indonesia in the Jalan Batu Besuang area, Sempaja, and witnessed directly by the Office of Industry, Trade, Cooperatives, and SMEs (PPKUKM) of East Kalimantan Province, as well as the Halal Product Guarantee Administration Agency (BPJPH) for the East Kalimantan region, Sunday, May 18.
The products that were destroyed consisted of three different brands, namely Car Mallow, Flower Mallow, and Mini Marshmallow. All three are proven to contain pork gelatin, but still include a halal label on the packaging.
Head of the East Kalimantan PPKUKM Service, Heni Purwaningsih, said that this destruction was a follow-up to the results of monitoring children's food products carried out on May 6, 2025.
"This product does not meet halal standards because it contains the element of pucine. So we pull and destroy it for the protection of consumers, especially Muslim communities," Heni said at the location quoted from Antara.
According to Heni, this action is a tangible form of the commitment of the government and business actors in maintaining a transparent, honest, and responsible trading system.
"This is a tangible manifestation of the supervision of food commodities, so that all products in circulation are in accordance with the provisions of the law and public trust," he explained.
