Jakarta Has 55 Slum RWs, DKI Provincial Government Urged To Immediately Fix

Deputy Chairperson of the DKI Jakarta DPRD, Wibi Andrino, urged the DKI Provincial Government to immediately clean up the slum area in Jakarta. Considering that so far 55 RWs in Jakarta have slum status.

According to Wibi, the slum RW structuring program under the leadership of DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung needs to be implemented, provided that it does not use the eviction method.

"The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government must immediately re-map slum areas, set a priority scale for handling, and carry out integrated structuring programs such as flats without displacing them," Wibi told reporters, Sunday, May 18.

In carrying out the arrangement of slum RWs, Wibi continued, the DKI Provincial Government also needs to ensure that the ecosystem needs of residents are met so that the areas that have been arranged do not return to slum as before.

"This step must be accompanied by the provision of clean water, proper sanitation, land legalization, and economic empowerment of residents, by involving cross-party collaboration so that the handling runs quickly, precisely, and sustainably," explained Wibi.

Previously, the Head of the DKI Jakarta Public Housing and Settlement Areas (DPRKP), Kelik Indriyanto, explained that currently there are 55 slum RWs in Jakarta.

"RW slums in Central Jakarta 10 RW, in North Jakarta 3 RW, in West Jakarta 17 RW, South Jakarta 12 RW, and East Jakarta 13 RW," said Kelik.

Kelik said that the mapping of slum RWs in Jakarta was based on the Minister of PUPR Regulation Number 14/PRT/M/2018 with reference to a number of aspects and criteria.

"The indicators include building conditions, environmental road conditions, conditions for providing drinking water, environmental drainage conditions, wastewater treatment conditions, waste management conditions, to fire protection," he said.
