FA Cup 2025: Guardiola Legawa City Falls From Crystal Palace
JAKARTA The Manchester City coach, Pep Guardiola, received gracefully the defeat of his team to Crystal Palace in the 2025 FA Cup final. City lost with a narrow score of 0-1 at Wembley Stadium, London, Saturday, May 18 evening local time.
Quoted from ANTARA, Sunday, May 19, Guardiola congratulated Palace and admitted that his team appeared dominant, but failed to take advantage of the opportunity.
They are difficult to control when thrown in, corner and free kick. We created a lot of chances, but didn't score, that's why we lost," said the Spaniard.
Guardiola compared his team's performance to the previous match in the Premier League against Southampton which ended disappointing. He considered City's game in the FA Cup final to be more active and much better, even though the results were still unsatisfactory.
This match was also marked by controversy, including the referee's decision not to give Palace goalkeeper Dean Henderson a red card, despite being seen touching the ball outside the penalty box. But Guardiola was reluctant to extend the polemic and preferred to focus on his own team's evaluation.
Our game plans didn't work because we didn't win, but I don't regret it. Today we are sad because this is the FA Cup final, but it was a beautiful day with the singing and support of supporters," he said.
Guardiola also thinks Crystal Palace performed better than the previous meeting City won 5-2, even better than Manchester United who beat City in last season's final.
