BRI Supports Purwokerto Half Marathon 2025: Encourage Sport Tourism And Empower Local MSME Empowerment

Jakarta's commitment to PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia (Persero) Tbk or BRI in supporting a healthy lifestyle and strengthening the people's economy is again demonstrated through its participation as the main sponsor of the 2025 Purwokerto Half Marathon. This event is the result of a strategic collaboration between BRI, the Central Java Provincial Government, and the Banyumas Regency Government, which together encourages the potential of sport tourism as the locomotive of regional economic recovery.

Held on May 11, 2025 in the Purwokerto Lotus Tower area, Purwokerto Half Marathon attended by more than 20,000 visitors, and presented more than 4,000 runners from within and outside the region. Participants participated in four competition categories: 21K (Half Marathon), 10K, 5K, and 3K which were open to all groups, ranging from professional athletes to the running community and families.

One of the uniqueties of this year is the race path that passes through a number of landmarks in the city of Purwokerto, including the BRI Museum, BRI Purwokerto Branch Office, and historically-rich city center. This not only enriches the participant experience, but is also a means of promoting local cultural wealth and historical BRI values born from rural communities and continues to grow with the Indonesian people.

In addition to being a sporting event, the 2025 Purwokerto Half Marathon also presents hundreds of tenants for fostered micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) and BRI partners. Creative products such as typical culinary, fashion, handicrafts, and digital innovation will be exhibited directly to the public. BRI also provides digital payment facilities through BRImo and QRIS to support fast and safe non-cash transactions.

BRI believes that the Purwokerto Half Marathon is not only a celebration of enthusiasm and sportsmanship, but also a strategic momentum to encourage the empowerment of MSMEs and strengthen the local tourism sector. Synergy between stakeholders is the key in creating sustainable economic growth," said BRI Corporate Secretary Agustya Hendy Bernadi.

More than just sports events, this activity is also a place for community consolidation, entertainment, and financial education. In addition to music concerts from national artists, BRI also presents various interactive activities at booths, including educational games, opening digital accounts on the spot, and socializing financial literacy to visitors.

Hendy added that through this event, BRI reaffirmed its role as a national development partner who is always present in the community. Support for the 2025 Purwokerto Half Marathon is part of a sustainable effort to reach and empower the community to remote areas of the country, in line with BRI's vision as a bank with the spirit of inclusion and sustainability.
