Police Name Nurse At Cirebon Hospital Suspected Of Obscenity Of Children's Patients With Disabilities

The Cirebon City Police, West Java, named a nurse with the initials DS as a suspect in a sexual harassment case against child patients with disabilities at a hospital in the Cirebon area.

Cirebon City Police Chief AKBP Eko Iskandar explained the determination of the suspect after investigators obtained sufficient evidence and asked for information from 21 witnesses.

"The handling of this case has now entered the investigation stage, and today the perpetrator has been named a suspect," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Saturday, May 17.

AKBP Eko revealed that this harassment occurred on December 21, 2024, against a 16-year-old victim, who was currently undergoing treatment at the hospital.

"This case was only reported to the police on May 5, 2025," said the Police Chief.

Prior to the report, he said, the hospital had mediated between the victim's family and the reported three times. However, these efforts were fruitless.

During the investigation, the police confiscated several pieces of evidence such as victim's clothes, mediation documents, and the suspect's work schedule at the time of the incident.

The suspect committed sexual abuse three times, when the victim was not accompanied by his family and was in a condition of treatment in the hospital isolation room.

From the results of the post-mortem, said AKBP Eko, indications of sexual harassment were found, namely sexual intercourse. These results also corroborate the victim's information and other evidence that has been collected.

From the results of the investigation, investigators also identified allegations of similar cases that had involved suspects, both in the same hospital and other hospitals outside Cirebon.

"From the results of the examination, apparently there were other victims, namely in October 2024 when there were interns at the hospital who were harassed by the suspect. In addition, in Kuningan it was the same," he said.

Although the previous case did not reach the realm of law, according to the Police Chief, the statements from a number of witnesses and the documents collected also support the investigation of the suspect.

The suspect was charged with Law Number 17 of 2016 concerning Child Protection and Law Number 12 of 2022 concerning the Crime of Sexual Violence with a maximum penalty of 15 years in prison.
