Police Arrest 24 Brawlers In West Jakarta-Jaktim

JAKARTA - The Sub-Directorate of Crime and Violence (Jatanras) of the Metro Jaya Police arrested 24 brawlers in East Jakarta and West Jakarta from Tuesday (13/5) to Thursday (15/5).

"Of all the perpetrators who were arrested, seven of them were named suspects and detained because they were proven to be carrying or possessing sharp weapons illegally," said Head of Sub-Directorate of Jatanras of the Directorate of General Criminal Investigation (Ditreskrimum) Polda Metro Jaya AKBP Abdul Rahim as reported by ANTARA, Saturday, May 17.

The 24 arrested brawlers, 13 of whom were arrested in West Jakarta, while 11 other perpetrators were arrested in East Jakarta.

"For the detained perpetrators, four people are in West Jakarta and three people are in East Jakarta," he said.

The brawlers were arrested in the Jalan Latumenten area, Jelambar Baru and Grogol Petamburan (West Jakarta), as well as Jalan Matraman and Jalan Pisangan Lama (East Jakarta).

"From the location in West Jakarta, we confiscated various evidences of sharp weapons, six sickles of various sizes, one pipe that had been modified in the form of a sickle with pointed tips, one iron liner with centimeters long, and one bow without arrows," said Abdul.

Meanwhile in East Jakarta, officers confiscated five sharp weapons of various sizes of sickles from the perpetrators.

"The perpetrators of the brawl detained are subject to Article 2 paragraph (1) of the Emergency Law No. 12 of 1951 concerning possession of sharp weapons without rights, with a threat of up to 10 years in prison," he said.
