Babel Police Fails To Smuggle 20 Tons Of Tin Ore
PANGKALPINANG - Directorate of Water and Air Police of the Bangka Belitung Islands Regional Police thwarted an attempt to smuggle 20 tons of tin ore using a wooden ship in the waters of Paitjaya, Mentok, West Bangka Regency, which is planned to be sent to Malaysia.
"The success of disclosing this case was due to the arrests made by officers on one of the wooden vessels in the waters, on Thursday (15/5) at around 02.40 WIB," said Head of Public Relations of the Babel Police, Kombes Fauzan Sukmawansyah in Pangkalpinang, Friday, May 16.
The Gakkum Dit Polairud Sub-Directorate Team together with KP XXVIII-2008 personnel secured a KM unit. The Blue-V Sea carrying a cargo in the form of tin ore, and one perpetrator suspected of carrying the goods.
"There are as many as 400 sacks weighing about 50 kilograms found on the wooden ship, for a total weight of about 20 tons. We also secured one person, namely LM alias Meng (39), a resident of Mas Bangsal Island, Riau Islands," he said.
Hundreds of sacks of tin ore without the permit documents are planned to be sent out of Bangka Belitung to Malaysia.

"The suspect has now been secured at Mako Polairud, while we have entrusted the evidence to the Pangkalpinang Rupbasan," he said.
The suspect is subject to criminal threats as referred to in Article 161 of the Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 2 of 2025 concerning the fourth Amendment to Law Number 4 of 2009 concerning Mineral and Coal Mining.
