Pentagon Drafts Golden Dome Anti-State Missile Defense System Design

JAKARTA - The United States Ministry of Defense has compiled an early draft for the architecture of the air defense system and a missile named the "Golden Dome" (Golden Dome), Pentagon Principal Spokesman Sean Parnell said.

In a statement to Bloomberg News, Parnell said after US President Donald Trump issued an executive order on January 27, the ministry "collects brilliant thinkers" and the best existing talents to review options in the development of missile defense technology to protect US territory.

Parnell said Defense Minister Pete Hegseth and other Pentagon officials are ready to announce the direction they will take in the coming days.

As reported by ANTARA from Sputnik-OANA, Friday, May 16, the US Congressional Budget office estimates that the development and launch of this system could cost up to USD 542 billion (approximately IDR 8.9 quadrillion) within 20 years.

One of the most controversial components of the project is a space-based interceptor network, which is estimated to cost around $161 billion, even in the lowest cost scenario.

According to the Budget office, the total cost will depend on the launch price of the system and the number of weapons to be placed in orbit.

According to Trump's executive order issued on January 27, the 'Golden Dome' architecture must include plans to defend itself against advanced ballistic, hypersonic, and cruise missiles.

Then accelerate the deployment of ballistic and hypersonic space-based tracking sensors; and develop and deploy space-based interceptors capable of intercepting missiles during the active booster rocket phase or "boost phase".
