The National Police Reveals The Reason For Munarman Can Not Be Found By A Lawyer
JAKARTA - The National Police emphasized that Munarman could not be visited because the handling of terrorism cases has a different criminal procedure law.
This statement is in response to Munarman's team of lawyers who admit that they have difficulty visiting his client.
"So I answered the reason because the criminal procedural law for terrorism cases is different," said Head of Public Relations Division of the National Police, Kombes Ahmad Ramadhan, to reporters, Friday, April 30.
In Law Number 5 of 2018 concerning Crime of Terrorism, Densus 88 investigators have up to 21 days to carry out the in-depth process.
In addition, the legal provisions also state that investigators can arrest terrorism suspects based on sufficient preliminary evidence for the first 14 days. Then, if the fishing time is not enough, it can be extended for 7 days. This is mentioned in Article 28 paragraph 2.
"So investigators have time to explore, in tracing these cases for concentration investigators want to focus on these cases," said Ramadhan.
Previously, the suspect in the Munarman terrorism case failed to meet with his legal team. It has been two days since the team of lawyers made various efforts to meet his client.
One of Munarman's lawyers, Ann Noor Qumar, said officers at the Polda Metro Jaya drug remand center still refused when he was met on the second day. Even though the lawyer wants to provide food and clothes.
"So on the second day we were here asking for permission to meet him in capacity one, to visit first. Two, we brought a change of clothes and food. Because when he was taken from the house he was arrested and even wearing footwear was not given that opportunity, "Qumar told reporters on Thursday, April 29.
There were a number of reasons why the lawyers team was not allowed to meet Munarman. Prison officers at Polda Metro Jaya said that the team of lawyers was obliged to obtain a Densus 88 Anti-terror permit.
"On the first day, the reason for having to ask permission from the Densus team at the Police Headquarters. We are waiting for the Densus team there to not give permission," said Qumar.
"On the second day, our team was coordinating with the Special Detachment and continued to be directed and allowed to provide clothes and food but when we arrived at the drug detention center this was not allowed. The reason for the team guarding here no matter how high the direction, no matter what rank in power in detention, this is a duty officer. who is currently on duty, "continued Qumar.
